What is Basement Level Labs?
A small LLC making handmade horror-themed soap in limited batches. The shop is built like a basement laboratory that should not exist. The soap is real.
Who makes the soap?
A couple of people. That’s the whole lab. We mix, cut, wrap, label, and ship it ourselves.
Why do you keep stock so low?
On purpose. Small batches mean you are not sitting in a holding pattern waiting for a bar that does not exist yet. It also means we can keep up. If you want more of something in stock, the fastest way is to keep buying what is up now so we can afford to make more.
Are you trying to grow?
Yes. Support the lab, and we increase online stock. That is the whole loop.
Where are you based?
United States. Working from two homes – one in Arkansas, and the other in Oklahoma. Orders ship from our house.
THE SOAP
Are the soaps based on movies?
Each bar is a specimen inspired by classic horror. We do not print the titles of the works on which our soaps are based… but you know.
How big is a bar?
About 3” × 3.5”. Net weight 4.5 oz. Handmade, so edges and tops vary a little.
What can I use it for?
Hands, body, or face. It is soap. Use it like soap.
Do they lather?
Yes. A normal handmade-bar lather. Wet the bar, work it up, rinse.
How strong is the scent?
Present in the shower, not a cloud that follows you down the block. Each formula is different. If you are scent-sensitive, start with one bar.
How long does a bar last?
Depends on how you use it and whether it dries between showers. Keep it on a draining dish, not in a puddle if you’re hoping for longevity.
How should I store it?
Cool, dry, out of direct sun. If you are saving a bar, leave it wrapped until you need it.
INGREDIENTS & SAFETY
Are they handmade?
Yes. Small batches, poured and cut here.
Are they free of common allergens?
Formulated without the usual common allergen additives. Fragrance and botanical oils can still bother some skin. If you have a known sensitivity, read the ingredients in the soap details before checkout.
Are they tested on animals?
No animal testing.
Kids / pets?
Soap is soap. Keep bars and the little vials out of reach of children and animals. The vials are decoration, not snacks.
The vial on the bar — can I use what’s in it?
No. The vial is part of the specimen wrap. Do not ingest it. Do not put it in your eyes. Do not add it to the bath. Fun decoration only.
SHIPPING
Where do you ship?
United States to start. International shipping is off until we have a clean process.
How long until it ships?
Orders are packed in 2–5 business days while supplies last. We do not sit on a bar for weeks. If something will take longer, we email you.
How long in transit?
Typical U.S. delivery is 3–7 business days after it leaves the lab, depending on the service you choose at checkout.
What if the package is lost or damaged?
Email us with the order number and photos if it arrived wrecked. We will replace or refund the bar when we can verify it.
Can I change the address after I order?
Only if it has not shipped. Email immediately.
ORDERS & STOCK
Why is an item sold out?
We made a short run and it sold. We restock when we can keep up. Wishlist it or check back. Buying what is in stock now is what funds the next run.
Do you take preorders?
Not by default. If we open a preorder, it will say so on the product page with a clear ship window.
Do you wholesale?
Not yet. If that changes, it will be on this page.
Gift messages / wrapping?
Add a note at checkout if you want a plain gift note. Fancy wrapping is not standard while we are this small.
RETURNS & PROBLEMS
Can I return a used bar?
No. Opened or used soap cannot come back.
Wrong item / missing item?
Email us. We fix our mistakes.
Allergic reaction?
Stop using it. Rinse. If it is serious, get medical help. Then tell us which bar and what happened so we can flag it.
THE WEBSITE
Payment methods?
Whatever Shopify shows at checkout (cards, Shop Pay, etc.).
Promo codes?
If we run one, it will be on the site or in the email list. We are too small for a stack of perpetual coupons.
Emails?
Order and shipping mail only, plus an occasional restock note if you opt in. We do not sell your list.
